Roadmap

The design language system 1.0 was released as a manual for federal government entities (FGEs) to plan and arrange content on their websites with simplicity and creativity.

The first of it's kind, the design language system set precedence to consistent design and put forward a set of guidelines to help acheive accessible user experience.

The design system 2.0 was is leap forward into the creation of a robust and consistent design system for the United Arab Emirates government.

Built to enhance the earlier version, the design system now offers a set of components, blocks, patterns and updated guidelines to help federal government entities (FGE's) build better communication.

The new design system will be introduced in a series of workshops, to help ministries and authorities of the federal government adopt the use of the design system.

Enhancements and upgrades to the design system based on feedback from entities.

• An update was made to the alert component that ensures accessibility improvements and testing against colour contrast checker for a AA level rating.
• Icon size of alerts have been increased and call to actions were made to match colour combinations.
• Header navigation dropdown menu has been updated to remove a background colour on link items. This was suggested as something not to be forced. Link colors will change on hover and underline will be added, however background colour changes are left as a choice.
• Compatibility testing on existing class names shows no breaking changes

Adding new insights, best practices and case studies as part of our constant education towards sustainable and creative web design and development. The insights will feature 6 new articles.

• The UAE emblem has been updated to reflect a change as per brand requirements.
• On the Arabic version of websites, the primary navigation (when 7 items are included) would split into 2 lines per item due to the length of the word. A fix has been applied to reduce font size, padding etc. For tablet version only, the first "Home" link is an icon only.
• Other minor underlying enhacements.

Something that we beleive in is "continues improvement", and therefore, the UAE design system continues to evolve and get better. Today we will talk about - Version 2.2. Let's explore the most important changes.

• Introducing, primary and secondary support color for focus state on buttons, form elements and links
• Changes to the Button component, fixing focus and updates to the soft and outline button states.
• A new range of Alert component state for Success, Error, Info and Warning
• Introducing responsive cards for the service card templates
• Introducing - the creative card variation
• Improvements in terms of consistent responsive types for media cards
• 2 new types of Hero blocks

We continue to push updates and add further enhacements to the design system. This version is a minor upgrade but fixes reported issues.

• Issue #88 : Copying Disabled Input Field Content. This issue was resolved with further suggestion on JavaScript solution too.
• Issue #83, Issued #78, Issued #76 was solved with multiple changes to code and the addition of hoverIntent bundled into the aegov-scripts as a default plugin.
• Various issues such as #81 were resolved by restoring the date input back to its original state without manipulation.
